This point-to-point racecourse will take swimmers around the western end of Hvar Island, between ancient villages of Stari Grad (start) and Hvar Town (finish), via secret bays and stunning islands.

THE VENUE
The magical island of Hvar will host our ‘early season’ European kickoff. A region steeped in history, and populated by hundreds of beautiful islands of all sizes, #7Croatia will challenge you with a tour around the western end of Hvar Island, between the two ancient towns of Stari Grad and Hvar Town.
This venue suits both the time-constrained swimmer wanting a fantastic long weekend 33.3km challenge, and also someone wanting a super holiday in this stunning region, with a rewarding challenge in the middle.
THE COURSE
This course* takes us between the two beautiful and ancient locations of Stari Grad (registration and start) and Hvar Town (finish) via secret bays and stunning islands. Click the image to view the course in Google Earth.

SWIMMING CONDITIONS?
Mid-May in Hvar could deliver us anything, above and in the water - from crisp mornings to hot sun-baked afternoons, and according to the weather in the first part of May, 17-18°C water that could easily be heated by early summer sun to 20°C (and was in 2024!). With mid-summer only a month later, long daylight hours make this a super destination to put winter behind you! Wetsuit optional, but we had a lot of very happy skins swimmers in 2024…
TRAVEL AND LOGISTICS
Conveniently accessible via a fast ferry ride from the lively city of Split to Hvar (with an alternative direct route to Stari Grad, albeit a bit slower), or through the equally charming Dubrovnik further down south if you have an extra day in your schedule. For optimal planning, arriving in Split by mid-morning on the 15th would be ideal, with departure flights feasible from the evening of the 19th. For a seamless experience, ULTRA+ offers private transfers directly from the airport via high-speed vessels (weather permitting). Alternatively, extend your stay and soak up more of the enchanting surroundings at your leisure.

Big marathon swim challenges like the English Channel can be very difficult to organise, often with long waiting lists or expensive solo organisation costs. Whether your aspiration is to take on the iconic Channel swim in the future, or you relish the idea of an ultra-marathon challenge, UltraSwim 33.3 now has two big swim options added to its next Epic Adventure Swim Race in beautiful Croatia in May 2025, including a 33.3km single swim between the two stunning ancient 12th century villages of Stari Grad, and Hvar Town.

The distance of the iconic English Channel spread over a long weekend. This is the ultimate challenge. Push yourself and join the ranks of the 33.3 finishers! By selecting this option you will swim the entire 33.3km distance solo, over 5-7 swims, across 4 days. Any determined open-water swimmer can do this.
BUILD

Build your distance
This is the perfect build-up to the iconic 33.3km distance. Many swimmers have doubts (despite often being more than capable) so the 22.2km BUILD option is often a great starting point. DISCOVERY

This option allows you to discover the magic of UltraSwim 33.3 without the pressure. You will swim a short distance each day and get to know our event as you build towards the ultimate 33.3km distance.
