Preparing for an UltraSwim 33.3 is unlike any other challenge. It is not just about putting in the kilometres, it is about developing rhythm, resilience, and refined technique under real, accumulating fatigue. That is why we have created two fully dedicated training plans inside the Swim Smooth GURU, available in both 16 week and 24 week formats, written specifically for the unique demands of this spectacular four day race series.
What sets these plans apart is not just their structure, but the technology behind them. The GURU does not simply deliver sessions; it tracks your progress, monitors your fitness development, and even predicts where your fitness is heading so you stay accountable and on track. And through patented Stroke Insights, your Apple or Garmin device becomes a real time technique coach, giving you personalised feedback on your stroke mechanics.
Both plans follow the same proven pathway. Base Phase (Weeks 1 to 6 / 1 to 8): build aerobic efficiency, refine technique, and reinforce rhythm and body position through consistent CSS based work. Build Phase (Weeks 7 to 11 / 9 to 16): develop strength and sustainable speed through longer Red Mist cycles, controlled tempo pacing, and threshold training that teaches you to hold form under load. Race Phase (Weeks 12 to 16 / 17 to 24): shift into event specific conditioning with longer continuous swims, sighting practice, drafting skills, and pacing work that mirrors UltraSwim race flow.
To prepare you for UltraSwim's signature multi day format, the plans also include structured fatigue stacking weekends, series of four purposeful sessions completed across Friday to Monday, spaced once a month in the build up. These plans were written by Paul Newsome, Head Coach of Swim Smooth and winner of the first two UltraSwim 33.3 events in Montenegro.

Swimsquad Belgium, a subsidiary of Endurance Peak Coaching bv. I am already active in the swim coaching world for many years. We are running a swimsquad in Belgium with 4 coached swim sessions a week and I already performed over 1000 swim video analyses from front crawl swimmers.
Every year I run a training camp in Club La Santa, Lanzarote. There are two consecutive camps, the first starting 29/03 for 7 nights and the second starting 05/04, with a focus on preparing swimmers for the UltraSwim events. Last year I had 26 participants at the camps.

Marieke set a record swimming the full Belgian coastline, 67km in 18 hours 45 minutes, and coaches swimmers towards their own long distance goals.
I have been working as a full time swim and triathlon coach the last 6 years, and have been swimming and coaching the last 25 years. After swimming the Belgian coastline, I started up a swimming team and swim event along the Belgian coast to be able to share the experience of open water and sea swimming. I participated at UltraSwim 33.3 Montenegro for the first and second edition. Next to being an IM certified coach I am finishing my Swim Smooth certification as we speak. And I am training for my next swim challenge, swimming Lake Geneva 70km. To summarise: swimming is a passion that I like to share and I love to keep learning and keep improving as a coach and swimmer.

Established in 2019, Hayley currently coaches 3 Masters Fitness sessions a week, as well as coaching swimmers for a Try a Tri every year. Seven years ago I set the business up. In reality I have been teaching and coaching a whole lot longer, but seven years ago Swim Confidence was born. The business was never about me; it is about the swimmer and their personal journey. I chose the name as I want everyone to be as comfortable as I feel in the water. It wasn't always that way, and this knowledge has helped me deal with nervous and anxious swimmers even better. I have coached, mentored and guided swimmers on longer swim challenges, which has to be one of life's rewarding moments. I have a fantastic group of coaches who come on board for things like Try a Tri. Sessions for SwimRun intro have started to be requested by clients too. The annual 100 x 100 event continues to raise money for local charities.

Peter is known for record breaking ice swims and ultra marathon swims in some of the most extreme water temperatures on earth.

Anna-Karin coaches technique and open water performance, sharing training guidance with swimmers around the world.
Swimming has always been a part of my life. I grew up in the competitive lanes; trained hard, raced and chased seconds as an elite swimmer on the international stage. I know what it is like to push hard. I also know what it is like to hit a wall, to lose the joy for swimming and to find my way back to the water and on my own terms. That is what shaped Simcoachen. Today, I coach swimmers of all levels since 2012; from complete beginners to triathlete pros and open water swimmers. I have my background both in Total Immersion and Swim Smooth and I love helping people to not just work on strength in the water but to be more effective and efficient. I coach both in the pool and open water; private sessions, group training, online programs and camps throughout the year, both in Sweden where I am based and other countries.

Whether you are coming from a pool background, swimrun or triathlon, stepping up to an open water swim event is an exciting goal. Our local network of distance swim coaches will support you to improve your speed and efficiency.
A former Swedish swim team competitor, Susie brings a sports psychology perspective to endurance swimming and racing.
She left competitive sports at the age of 20, determined never to train or compete again. She was completely fed up with everything related to sport, especially swimming, and decided instead to focus on her studies to become a social worker.
Only a few months into her studies, she discovered group training and started going to the gym, mainly because she missed the social side of sport.
A few years later, she stumbled into triathlon, and suddenly she was back in the pool, setting her alarm for early-morning training sessions. The difference this time was that she was there because she wanted to be. She was motivated, and was doing it entirely on her own terms.
After completing an Ironman, she discovered swimrun – open-water swimming and running through the Swedish archipelago.
From there, she started pushing her boundaries and seeking out more and more adventures in nature, with ultra swimming becoming a big part of that journey. She incredibly grateful to have found her way back to swimming.,

I have been ocean swim coaching as Devon Sea Swim for 4 years and open water swimming since 2000, but my swim and ocean journey started well before that. As a teenager I won national titles and British silver medals as a sprinter. Yacht sailing became a passion after university, along with surfing, and both took me travelling recreationally round the world. My ocean swimming and distance swim challenges started when I worked in New Zealand and included being part of a team that came second in the competitive 45km Lake Taupo relay race. I now live in Devon and am growing my own team of ocean swimmers. I have trained swimmers who have successfully completed 2 UltraSwim 33.3 events, numerous swimmers for the Dart 10k and the Hurly Burly 10k, and one swimmer who this year completed a non stop 24km swim round Torbay. My coaching emphasis is getting swimmers to feel confident in the water, to understand how they move in the water and how the water moves them. Rhian offers sea swim coaching sessions from introductions to safe sea swimming right through to distance building coastal swims.
