Swimmers aged 14 to 76, from more than 40 countries. Most come alone. All go home with friends for life. The UltraSwim 33.3 community is what makes this more than a race.
“There are lots of great one day swims like with Oceanman and Aquaman. Most people attending one day events go away content - but having not created the deep bonds that come from multi-day challenges, where people make new friends through sharing a challenge that pushes them out of their comfort zone. Competitors support and motivate each other, share their experiences in a social environment at the end of the day, and then get back up the next day and do it again, sharing their nerves and stresses on the transfer to the start line….the sense of shared experience, through mental and physical highs and lows, is super-strong and sets this event apart from everything that has gone before it.”
- Mark Turner, Founder of UltraSwim 33.3
The Community

UltraSwim 33.3 brings together triathletes, recreational swimmers, open water veterans and complete newbies to open water swimming. Your age, your background and your pace do not matter. What matters is your willingness to show up and give everything you have over four extraordinary days.
Swimmers aged 14 to 76 from more than 40 countries, with a median age of 50+. Slightly more women than men, one of the most inclusive communities in endurance sport. Most swimmers arrive alone and leave with friendships that last long after the finish line.
We have a fantastic team of experts to help you along your UltraSwim 33.3 journey, from our affiliate coaches to physios and nutritionists, we can support you with whatever you may need.
We connect like-minded swimmers from all over the world, as each participant takes on the 33.3km challenge, we guarantee special memories and lifelong bonds will be formed. We have seen first hand the power of community, people helping each other and willing each other to become finishers and pull together to make it through the four days. We’ve seen swimmers from over 40 countries, all different shapes and sizes and abilities become a solid, supportive community. Everyone just wants to make it to the finish line.

The best moments of an UltraSwim 33.3 are made richer by the people who share them. Our F3 programme, for Family, Friends and Fans, gives your loved ones a place in the event without the training or the logistics. They follow the swims from a boat or the shore at key moments (without being forced to watch you for hours either), join the finish line refuel lunches and share in every celebration.
F3 supporters travel with a dedicated host and a relaxed morning schedule. Depending on the venue, the package can include boat or bus viewing of the swims, transport to the daily finish line lunches, local excursions, professional photos and video, a welcome aperitif and access to the prize giving. There are seminars and round tables too, so supporters come away understanding the challenge as well as anyone in the water - and at most venues they have a chance to swim the final few hundred metres with you - recieving their own 'teamwork' medal on the finish line.
Some prefer to roll their sleeves up. A limited number of volunteer roles open at each event, from crewing the boats and running feed stations to joining the safety team as an experienced kayaker - we call this 'F3 VOL' and you have to apply to join this programme which is not guaranteed. Your partner if accepted will have to pull their weight in the organisation team but for the active partner its a great way to experience the event, and with no F3 Supporter package to pay.
Whichever way they take part, F3 turns a solo challenge into a shared adventure, and the untimed final swim often becomes the moment the whole group remembers.

You swim your own race at your own pace, yet never on your own. Boats, kayakers and fellow swimmers stay with you the whole way, and four days together build bonds a single day event never could.

An extraordinarily diverse field of like minded swimmers from more than 40 countries, aged 14 to 76. Arrive alone as a stranger, leave with a new global network of friends.

A network of more than 30 Affiliate coaches and clubs across Australia, Europe, the UK, the USA and beyond, almost all of whom have swum a 33.3 themselves. Bring your group or find your new tribe.

Loved ones belong here too. The F3 Supporters programme gives supporters a long weekend of watching the swimming (but not too much!) and exploring the unique places that we are so lucky to swim in.
