#14SWITZERLAND
for Léman hope
THE ‘LAKE’ EDITION
4-7 SEPTEMBER 2026
Step out of your comfort zone with UltraSwim 33.3. 33.3km (English Channel distance) spread over 4 days, 6 swims. Welcome to your next big challenge.
Lake Geneva (more correctly known as Lac Léman) sits between the Swiss and French Alps, and the Swiss/French Jura - with Geneva at one end and Chillon/Montreux 70km away at the other. This fresh water lake provides an incredible swimming venue, with amazing 360 degree views, and UNESCO heritage vineyards rolling down to quaint Swiss and French villages on the lakeside. Lausanne the Olympic city will welcome you, with other iconic spots such as Montreux (of Jazz Festival fame), Chateau de Chillon, and Evian (France).
The water temperature is expected to be between 20-23C
Unique to our Swiss event
Our only fresh water venue
13km iconic country to country lake crossing to France (Lausanne-Evian)
Lausanne Olympic Musuem (right next to our venue) - great to visit post swim
Public transport focus - we’ll be using Swiss trains and the classic CGN lake ferries to move you around [worth using image of one here maybe not this one but one showing the vineyards too - see CGN]
Very well connected Geneva airport, with low cost flights, as well as great train connections in Europe (direct from Paris, Milan, Zurich, Munich…)
Swiss Franc pricing - this won’t be our cheapest entry costs, but the low cost travel options to get here should make up the difference for many
We (and you) will be raising money for local charity Leman hope, that helps rebuild confidence in young cancer survivors. CHF50 of your entry fee will already be donated.
OUR HOST VENUE
Lake Geneva (more correctly known as Lac Léman) sits between the Swiss and French Alps, and the Swiss/French Jura - with Geneva at one end and Chillon/Montreux 70km away at the other. This fresh water lake provides an incredible swimming venue, with amazing 360 degree views, and UNESCO heritage vineyards rolling down to quaint Swiss and French villages on the lakeside. Home to Inspire Through Sport, the company behind UltraSwim 33.3, this venue establishes the first non-salt water event in the series. Also co-founded by Mark Turner, this will also be the first event where a charitable cause is put at the heart of an UltraSwim 33.3 - and hopefully will touch the hearts of the participants, as they Swim for Hope! Léman hope is a Swiss charity that provides 5 day sailing trips to young cancer survivors to help them rebuild confidence after the destructive treatments they (and their families) have been through.
WHERE WILL WE SWIM?
This course takes us around the eastern end of the famous Lake Geneva (Lac Léman more correctly), starting at the Chateau de Chillon, passing famous Montreux Jazz Festival landmarks (hello Freddie Mercury), underneath UNESCO protected steep sided vineyards and quaint Swiss villages, with the Alps in the background and an iconic 13km crossing between Switzerland and France on Marathon Day 3. Lake temperature can vary greatly according to the preceding weather - we’d expect 20-23C range however as the lake, which gets very cold in winter, warms up constantly throughout the summer months.
SWIMMING CONDITIONS?
As summer draws to a close, early September can be a stunning time to swim on this lake - the tourist season is winding down, the schools are back, and the lake can show its too faces…mirror like conditions, afternoon thunderstorms, or strong bise winds from the north. Early starts as usual - you can be assured of some amazing sunrises from behind the Swiss Alps.
The Rhone flows down from the glaciers on the eastern end, and exits in Geneva in the west, so there can be light cooler currents in both directions - but water temperature generally 20-23C. We’re not on the ocean here though…most conditions are swimmable! You’ll find you float a bit less in fresh water though if you’re used to the salty variety.

THE PURPOSE
Since 2019, Léman hope has been using sailing as a therapeutic tool to help children in remission from cancer regain self-confidence, during a 5-day, 4-night cruise on Lake Geneva.
This experience, a true bridge between treatment and an active future, embodies values of courage, sharing and hope. Léman hope aims to support these young people in their reconstruction after cancer, by offering them a caring environment where they can rediscover themselves and leave with optimism. The magic works, and each young person comes out of this human adventure with newfound growth and resilience.
An automatic donation of 50CHF per participant is taken from the entry fee, and further fundraising events allowing swimmers to understand better the incredible work this charity does will be held during the event.
