SWEDEN - Susie Moonan

Behavioural scientist and champion swimrunner from Sweden

Biography

A former Swedish swim team competitor, Susie brings a sports psychology perspective to endurance swimming and racing.

She left competitive sports at the age of 20, determined never to train or compete again. She was completely fed up with everything related to sport, especially swimming, and decided instead to focus on her studies to become a social worker.

Only a few months into her studies, she discovered group training and started going to the gym, mainly because she missed the social side of sport.

A few years later, she stumbled into triathlon, and suddenly she was back in the pool, setting her alarm for early-morning training sessions. The difference this time was that she was there because she wanted to be. She was motivated, and was doing it entirely on her own terms.

After completing an Ironman, she discovered swimrun – open-water swimming and running through the Swedish archipelago.

From there, she started pushing her boundaries and seeking out more and more adventures in nature, with ultra swimming becoming a big part of that journey. She incredibly grateful to have found her way back to swimming.,
