Experienced Coaching Support for Participants
UltraSwim 33.3 has a growing number of Affiliate Coaches and Clubs. We aren’t making a detailed judgement on coaching ability, but these are people we are already working with, who have brought or sent swimmers to one of our events, who actively promote the event, and that we know get what is required in terms of preparation. They have almost all swum one or more UltraSwim 33.3 events. They understand the preparation needed for a 33.3km open water swimming event like UltraSwim 33.3 - so why not make use of that knowledge?
Some of the coaches run their own week long camps in various parts of the world, so we’ve put a sample of those below - a great way, 6-9 months prior to the event, to get some focused training time, work on technique, and get early advice on what you need to focus on to prepare for the big swim.
Some coaches have also developed training plans of their own, which you can purchase along with their remote coaching support. Once you’ve signed up to an UltraSwim 33.3 event, you have access to a free 16-week training plan, that you’ll find in our online participant resource centre called the Swimmers Bubble. This is PDF based, but written by regular 33.3er and Affiliate coach Tom Jenkinson.
In the case of Swim Smooth, there is a training app called Guru. It is customised for a multi-day challenge UltraSwim 33.3 and is personalised to you (CSS pace based). It’s not free - but well worth it if you want to get a dedicated programme tailored to your own abilities, and specific to the UltraSwim 33.3 multi-day event. The first 33 swimmers signing up for it per event get a 50% discount. There are 24 and 16 week programmes - highly recommended!

I have been working as a full time swim/triatlon coach the last 6years. And have been swimming / coaching the last 25years.
After swimming the Belgian Coastline, I started up a swimming team and swim event along the Belgian coast to be able to share the experience of open water and sea swimming. I participated at Ultraswim 33.3 Montenegro for the first and second edition. Next to being an IM certified coach I'm finishing my Swim Smooth certification as we speak. And I'm training for my next swim challenge - swimming Lake Geneva 70km - so to summarize: swimming is a passion that I like to share and I love to keep learning and keep improving as a coach and swimmer.

I have been ocean swim coaching as Devon Sea Swim for 4 years and open water swimming since 2000. But my swim and ocean journey started well before that. As a teenager I won national titles and British silver medals as a sprinter. Yacht sailing became a passion after university, along with surfing and both took me traveling recreationally round the world , experiencing many different oceans and coastlines as skipper including Croatia, Greece and Turkey. My ocean swimming and distance swim challenges started when I worked in New Zealand and included being part of a team that came second in the very competitive 45km Lake Taupo relay race and Mount Maunganui swim where I was 3rd lady out. I have ocean swum extensively in the Chanel islands. I have also swum with the RnLZi round the whole or Torbay.
I now live in Devon and am growing my own team of ocean swimmers as back in 2012 I could not find any swimmers to train with for my first Dart 10k. I have since trained swimmers who have successfully completed 2 x Ultraswim 33s, numerous swimmers for the Dart 10k and the rough Hurly Burly 10k and one swimmer who this year completed a non stop 24km swim round Torbay. Made more amazing by the fact that he could not do 25 meters front crawl 1 year ago. I have also supported training for our own ICE mile world record holder.
My coaching emphasis is getting swimmers to feel confident in the water, to understand how they move in the water and how the water moves them. Spending time in the sea is key to a good enjoyable distance swim. I spend most of summer mornings and weekends coaching swimmers along the coast of Torbay so that they feel at home in the water.

Sea Swimming Familiarisation
25th AprilWhat are the differences between pool or lake swimming and the sea?
A day workshop where we will look at how you can adapt to sea swimming in preparation for Ultra 33.3 events in particular, but the rules apply to all long-distance sea swimming events.
We will cover topics such as sighting, salt mouth, buoyancy & pacing, along with how to actually swim in bigger conditions, whether it's swell from the side or wind chop coming straight at you. We will talk through any fears or worries, including marine life, toilet issues and sea sickness and of course we will get you in the sea to practice.

Early season, 4-8k sea swim, based in Weymouth or Studland Bay. The twelfth edition of Open Swim Harmonie Mutuelle, France's leading open water swimming circuit for the general public, will take place in eight French cities and one Swiss city from May to September 2026 (programme to be announced shortly). Our circuit, which aims to attract more and more participants to the sport through events adapted to all levels of ability, also reflects our growing desire to raise awareness of water protection, protect our environment and promote the positive impact of physical activity and sport on well-being and health.

Steyning Athletic Club was formed in 1951 to accommodate the walkers and other athletes who at the time actively participated in race-walking and running in the Steyning area.
The club has expanded and changed since those early days, now covering many disciplines, including Running, Race Walking, Swimming, Cycling, Triathlon, Circuits, Yoga and a thriving Junior section. The club has its own premises in Charlton Street, Steyning, and caters for athletes of all ages.
