Questions and answers

Common questions

Can I swim 33.3km if I have only done 10k?

Yes, with preparation. The distance is spread across four days, and a structured build up takes you from 10k to the full 33.3km over a training block.

How long does it take to train for the step up?

Most swimmers build over several months, gradually increasing volume and adding consecutive day swims. The preparation programme sets out the progression.

What is the hardest part of the increase?

Sustaining an even effort over longer swims and recovering between days. Both are trainable, and warm water makes them far more manageable.

Is support provided during the swims?

Yes. Every swim has boat and kayak cover, daily briefings and world class event management.
